Right turn onto Meacham Ave. Continue North past Hempstead Tpke where it turns into Covert Ave. Continue past grade school on right and Sewanhaka High School on left. We are about 4 blocks past Sewanhaka on the left (West) side of the street.
Via Cross Island Parkway: North to Jamaica Ave. East. About 1/2 mile to Tulip Ave. (just past KFC on right). Tulip Ave. Through the center of town of Floral Park. About 1 mile to Covert Ave. Make left when Sewanhaka High School is on right. About 4 blocks North on the left side (West) of the street.
We will be renamed as Covert Optical. We hope that you will be able to visit us at our new location.
Our New Location
Our New Store Is Open
Many of you have noticed our storefront in Lindenwood has been empty since the begining of November 2018. We opened up in mid-December in Floral Park on Covert Ave.
We've recently brought in several new lines of frames - Europa, Cote d'Azure, Scott Harris, Michael Ryen, LeGre, and Cafe Boutique. We've also updated the lines we already carried with new styles from Club Level Design, Line Art, and Eddie Bauer.
You can visit our new website here:
The new store looks great! We hope that all that can will come visit us here. For those that can't because it is too far, we thank you for using us in the past, and we wish you well.
We Make Quality A Priority.
Mark Simko purchased this store May 1, 2017, from Dr. Marc Mishan OD who ran it as a private practice for 31 years. Dr. Mishan and his wife Dr. Susan Mishan OD retired at that time.
Greg Petrozelli, the optician, stayed on after Dr. Mishan retired. Greg has served the Howard Beach community for 17 years, and is delighted to be able to continue on.
During our first week under new ownership, dozens of people stopped in to tell us how glad they were that Howard Beach Vision Care has found a new owner and is staying open. They were especially delighted to see that Greg is still here to help them. It is obvious that Greg is well loved in this neighborhood, a testament to his exceptional skills and pleasant demeanor.
We are making changes to the shop:
- Upgrade the quality of frames we carry
- Update the styles to reflect new fashion trends
- Price reduction to make eyewear more affordable
A note about that last commitment - we are NOT becoming a discount eyewear outlet. Discount eyewear stores sell cheap goods that don't serve the wearer well. They don't fit well, fall out of adjustment, and look cheaply made, especially to the discerning eye.
As we compete with the expensive high end optical shops, and the cheap Wobbly Barker online optical stores, we've decided to take the middle road. We offer what we consider to be the best value. Good looking quality eyewear at reasonable prices.
